Vietnam has 7 schools in top 2019 best universities in Asia

GSQT – On October 23rd, UK’s Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) announced the results of 505 best universities in Asia in 2019.
There are 7 universities in Vietnam, including Hanoi National University (No. 124), HCMC National University (No. 144), Ton Duc Thang University (group 291-300), Can Tho University (group 351-400), Hue University and Da Nang University (group 451- 500).
Compared to 2018, Vietnam has two distinctly improved schools. Specifically, Hanoi National University kept the position of number 1 in Vietnam and increased 15 levels compared to last year, while HCMC National University decreased 2 levels.
Notably, Ton Duc Thang University first appeared in best universities in Asia this year and entered the group 291-300.
This ranking is based on 11 criteria including: employers’ assessments, scientists’ ratings, student faculty ratios, percentage of faculty members with doctoral degrees, articles and citations by Scopus database, international lecturers and students, international and Vietnamese students exchange, international research network … In particular, the criteria of the international research network were first introduced by QS.
In 2018, Vietnam has 5 universities named in best universities in Asia. Hanoi National University held steady at 139, Hanoi University of Technology increased its rank and was ranked 291-300, HCMC National University is behind Hanoi National University but increased 5 levels from 147 to 142.
In contrast with the trend of increase and stability of 3 units, Hue University and Can Tho University was downgraded. Specifically, Hue University fell from the 301-350 group last year to 352-400 this year, and Can Tho University from 251-300 down to 301-350.
