GSQT – In 2020, Vietnam has a total of 895,000 students partaking in the high school graduation exam, of which more than 640,000 students registered for college admission. Then why would 255,000 students resign from the college “race”?
June 30 is the due date for Vietnamese students to register for the high school graduation exam and college admission in 2020. According to Mrs. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Acting Director of the Ministry of Education and Training, the local preliminary statistics show that by the end of June, the whole country had more than 895,000 candidates registered for the high school graduation exam in 2020, although there are only 640,000 students actually partake in the exam.
Thus, there are over 255,000 students resign from the college “race”, who only need to graduate from high school but have no intention to admit to college, which is accounted for 28,5% of the total students.
According to Mrs. Thuy, policies for university and college admissions remain the same, basically like in 2019, helping candidates feel secure in the process of admission.
In order to decrease the number of 255,000 students resign from the college “race”, this year, many universities have proactively launched many different enrollment options to increase the number of options for students.
Students can now choose from a variety of majors in their favorite university. Even after receiving the result of the high school graduation exam in 2020, students can still be able to re-adjust their college major.
The representative of the Ministry of Education and Training said that the Ministry will continue to support universities to filter virtual candidates in the first examination process. “Therefore, students can feel assured that they will pass the highest expectation they have registered for admission”.
