Do we “Westernize” when studying in international schools?

GSQT – Parents tend to send their children to international schools in Vietnam, which have a lower price but still have a high quality instead of paying thousands USD every year to study abroad. However, there are still a lot of confusion beside the demand and supply when studying in international schools.
While most of schools in Vietnam focus on knowledge and evaluation by tests, score is just a small part in international schools.
Students will receive comment on their effort, learning attitude and focus on developing self-efficacy. A clear difference is that the curriculum will be designed toward practicing, focus on learning skills and study like collecting, analyzing, presenting. Especially, students studying in international schools should learn how to manage time to finish exercises in time.
Therefore, while state schools still focus on knowledge, international schools fully equip students with awareness and responsibility for themselves and social for each student.
Besides that, there are lots of people worrying about traditional loss of Vietnamese students when they are studying in international schools. Even though we are lack of evaluation standards for Vietnamese curriculum in international schools, representative of Department of Education and Training state that “Referring to the program of Vietnamese studies, topics are various; the way to convey to students is attractive, lively, and practical. The integration of Literature – History – Geography is divided into topics, which included knowledge students have learnt. For example, talking about the topic like traditional Tet, students will not only understand clearly about the origin and the story of “bánh chưng”, but also can wrap cakes directly and enjoy their products…”
