GSQT – A-level (General Certificate of Education Advanced Level) is considered a “golden ticket” to help you easily access prestigious universities. But how to choose the subject of A-level program that is suitable for you?
A-level program normally lasts for 2 years, divided into 2 levels. The first year is 4-6 subjects (AS) and ends the first year with the exam. In the second year (A2), you will choose 3 of the subjects in the first year to continue and finish the program with these 3 subjects. You can study more than 3 subjects if desired.
How to choose the subject of A-level program? It’s totally based on your career orientation and academic ability. Choosing the right course will help students improve their chances of being admitted to prestigious universities, especially in UK.
There are more than 60 subjects, divided into two sections, natural and social. You can choose traditional theoretical subjects (“hard subject”) as follows:
- Math.
- Chemistry.
- Biology.
- History.
- English.
- Physics.
- Modern Languages.
Or new career-oriented subjects (“soft subjects”) as follows:
- Communication.
- Business Studies.
- Arts and Design.
- Sports Science.
- Tourism.
- Accountant.
- Information Technology.
Once you have identified a future career orientation and applied for a degree at the university level, you will see the entry requirements for each course. If you plan to take a degree in Psychology, you should study science subjects in A-level program because Psychology often require entry into science subjects.
With English Language, science subjects are not required. Laws, Photography, and Communication are also some fields that do not require entry for any specific subject. For safety, you have to research the entry requirements for each course you think you will study. You can also look to parents and teachers who understand your ability to get the most accurate advice.
