SSAT exam and what you need to know
GSQT – With the desire to bring their children to the advanced US learning environment, many parents have directed their children to SSAT, but most parents have very little information about SSAT exam and what you need to know.

SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) is a standardized entrance exam for admission to a number of private secondary and high schools in the US. This is a test for subjects from grades 5 to 11 and is divided into 3 levels: Elementary, Middle, and Upper.
- Grade 3-4: SSAT Elementary Level Test.
- Grade 5-7: SSAT Middle-Level Test.
- Grade 8-11: SSAT Upper-Level Test.
While the structure of the Middle and Upper-Level exams is the same, the question types used for the Upper Level are more difficult than the others. The advantage of the SSAT test is that there is no limit to the number of exams students can take each year. SSAT is administered multiple times a year, so students can take it as many times as they want. The following is the structure in 3 levels:

Elementary Level: 4-part test consisting of 1 hour and 50 minutes (including 15-minute breaks).
- Math: 30 questions – 30 minutes.
- Verbal: 30 questions – 20 minutes.
- Reading: 28 questions – 30 minutes.
- Writing: 15 minutes.
Middle Level and Upper Level: The test consists of 6 parts lasting 3 hours and 5 minutes (including a 15-minute break).
- Writing: 25 minutes.
- Math 1: 25 questions – 30 minutes.
- Math 2: 25 questions – 30 minutes.
- Verbal: 60 questions – 30 minutes.
- Reading: 40 questions – 40 minutes.
- Experimental: 16 questions – 15 minutes (not be scored).
SSAT exam and what you need to know
Each question has the same scale. Each correct answer will get 1 point. Each incorrect answer will be deducted by 0.25 points. Candidates will not be penalized if a question is left blank. SSAT test provides both numerical and percentage points for each section of the test. The percentage score compares a student’s score with other students of the same age and gender who took the test within the past 3 years.
You can register for the exam at ssat.org by providing the required information to create an account. After paying the exam fee with your credit card, you will receive a notice about SSAT exam and what you need to know.

On the day of the examination, candidates need to be at the exam site 30 minutes in advance to check in to the exam room, bringing their test report and passport (or other valid replacement paper). Candidates need to prepare a calculator for the Math test and are allowed to use computers and a hearing aid with a CD drive for the listening comprehension section. Results will usually be emailed about 1 month after the test. SSAT is organized quite regularly with 8 times per year so you can freely register and there are many opportunities to improve the score.
