An overview of A-level

Studying in the UK will no longer be a faraway dream to Vietnamese students if they have the A-level passport. A-level is a 2-year program, which is an equivalent of the IB. However, an advantage of A-level is that students only need to pick at least 3 subjects for studying, meanwhile 6 is the minimum with IB.

Normally, the grade scale of A-level ranges from A to E. Nonetheless, if you want to make sure that you have the ticket straight to Medicine, Pharmaceutical or Food Industries… in the top tier colleges and universities, you have to achieve a high result in A-level Biology and other subjects of choice should be at least A or B, which means that you have to exert every drop of effort that you have.

What will you study in A-level Biology?

In general, A-level Biology and IB Biology are not very much different, the only difference is that the knowledge in A-level is more in-depth.

You will learn a lot of interesting things about life such as structure and functions of cells, the similarities and differences between cell structure of plants and animals… Have you ever wonder why plants have their roots and body and leaves…? Or why leaves are green but not other color? Each and all of these will be explained in detail. How about the animal world? What are there to form an animal’s body? How are they born, how do they grow and survive?

Simple as they may sound, those questions are not that easy to answer. More than that, the knowledge of genetic and evolution will also help you to understand about the origin of human, factors that affect our pose and characteristics…
