The curriculum
In IB Spanish, there are two parts, including Spanish A for the native speakers or the people in countries that speak Spanish a long side their mother tongues. Spanish B for students of the language for at least 2 to 5 years. If you haven’t had any experience with the language and you want to kick start this interesting subject, then IB Spanish Ab Initio is definitely for you.
Spanish B is yet again divided into Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) for students for 4-5 years and 2-3 years, respectively. The structure of the curriculum is not too different from HL and SL. However, students of HL will spend more time with teachers in class and more homework. The language will be more sophisticated in structure and closer to the culture and literary style.
Besides, Spanish Standard Level also helps learners to continue to get familiar with daily communication structures and practice to become more fluent in realistic situations. Throughout the program, the topics for both levels are communication and media, global problems relating public relations. Moreover, teachers may choose two topics from culture diversity, custom, traditions, health, entertainment, science and technology to teach their students.
