GSQT – IB is the international baccalaureate program that is highly valued and recognized by many large universities around the world. However, not all students know how to choose the subject of IB program that is appropriate and effective.
IB (International Baccalaureate) is the famous university preparatory training program which lasts 2 years (6 semesters) and help students develop knowledge, critical thinking and soft skills needed for life and further work.
Upon completion of IB program and gaining IB certification, students will have a lot of advantages in getting valuable scholarships to prestigious universities around the world and will be exempted from some credits. How to choose the subject of IB program? IB program is designed to be wide and deep including 6 groups of subjects:
- Group 1: First language.
- Group 2: Second language.
- Group 3: Personal and social.
- Group 4: Natural science.
- Group 5: Mathematics.
- Group 6: Arts.
Each student will choose 6 subjects, the first 5 subjects choose from group 1 to group 5, except group 6. Particularly the sixth subject is elective, you can choose a subject in group 6 or any other subject in the first 5 groups.
Typically, students will choose 3-4 subjects at the HL and 3 subjects at the SL. In addition, students need to complete Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, a 4,000-word intensive essay (EE) and 150 hours of Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) program. IB program specifically emphasizes writing skills, analytical thinking and comprehensive development. Therefore, choosing the combination subjects to match the future university and career orientation will also make it easier for you.
